Philosophy & Approach

Faith sets the bearing. Coaching helps you walk it.

True North Faith Based Coaching brings together Scripture and sound, practical coaching — not as competing voices, but as compass and map. It’s built on twenty years of pastoral ministry and a Master of Divinity, and a quiet conviction: most people don’t need to be fixed. They need a true north, and a clear path back to it.

What I Believe

Five convictions behind the work

These shape every conversation — more than any method or framework.

01 · True North

Faith sets the bearing; psychology is the map.

Scripture sets the direction. Sound coaching tools and practical psychology help map the terrain. Not either/or — both, held wisely. The Bible is the compass; good coaching is how we walk the ground.

02 · Direction

Direction, not drift.

Everyone loses their bearings. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s a true north to orient toward, and a clear path back when you drift. You don’t have to have it all together to start moving well.

03 · People

People before performance.

Before we “win at work,” we become the person God designed. Being before doing — the soul-care that makes the doing last. Productivity in service of a life, not the other way around.

04 · The Book

The best book is the best mentor.

A book holds years of focused thought. For the price of a book, you sit with the world’s clearest voice on a subject. I curate the single best book for your topic and build a guided study path around it — so you absorb the best thinking efficiently.

05 · The Skill

Read deep, think clearly.

Before content can transform, you have to know how to read deeply and think clearly. I taught these two skills to more than 1,600 students. They’re the foundation — and the engine that makes every book, every session, and every framework actually stick.

What Success Looks Like

A bearing, not a metric.

Success here isn’t a single number. It’s a clear sense of true north plus a next step — measured across four bearings.

Spiritual Depth

An inner life that holds.

Intimacy with Jesus and a sustainable soul — leading from a full cup, not an empty one.

Leadership Load

Leading healthy.

Winning at work without sacrificing the person — carrying the load, not burning out under it.

Marriage & Home

Relationships restored.

Oneness, healthy boundaries, and the people closest to you getting your best, not your leftovers.

Purpose & Calling

Living from your calling.

Knowing why you’re here and walking in it — across your work, your home, and your faith.

Transformation sounds like this: “I’ve lost my bearings” becomes “I know my true north and my next step.”

The Path

The True North Framework™

A four-movement path — not a formula, but a compass. The framework is the path; book-based coaching is the engine; critical thinking is the fuel.

01

Listen

Slow down and name where you actually are — the drift, the weight, the ties that bind. You can’t find true north until you admit you’re lost. We start with the Compass Bearing Assessment and a first Clarity Call.

02

Locate

Find true north: identity in Christ, calling, the relationships that matter. We anchor to the best book on the topic, paired with a study guide that gets to the heart of it.

03

Lean

Move toward it on a defined bearing — a 90-day next step. Reading-comprehension and critical-thinking coaching turns insight into a direction you can walk this quarter.

04

Lead

Live it outward — discipleship, stewardship, legacy. What you’ve received becomes strength for the people around you, at home, at work, in your faith.

The Engine

Why a book, and why these skills.

The method is simple: the best book on the topic, a guided study path, and coaching that helps you read deeply, think clearly, and apply it honestly.

Most coaching hands you a framework and leaves you to fill it in. This is different. We take the single best book on your topic — the one that holds the clearest thinking — and work through it together, with a study guide I build and coaching that teaches you to read it deeply and think about it clearly. The book becomes your mentor. The coaching makes sure it lands in your actual life, not just your head.

It’s the reading-comprehension and critical-thinking work I taught to more than 1,600 students — the skills that make transformation durable instead of a flash of inspiration that fades by Friday. You won’t find this emphasis at the center of most coaching. Here, it’s the point.

What Makes This Different

Three things you won’t find everywhere.

Not every coach works this way. These three are where True North stands apart.

Distinctive 01

Book-based coaching at the center.

The single best book per topic, plus a study guide built around it — not a workbook of someone’s opinions, but the best thinking, made usable.

Distinctive 02

Reading & thinking as the foundation.

Taught to 1,600+ students — the engine that makes the work stick long after the sessions end.

Distinctive 03

Lived authority on the hard topics.

Betrayal, the weight, estrangement, rebuilding. Not theory — a road I’ve walked, and walk with you through.

If this sounds like the conversation you’ve been needing…

There’s no pressure to figure out which path is right on your own. Start with a free Clarity Call — we’ll find your true north together, honestly and kindly.
